What is Hybrid Flooring
With so many different flooring options currently on the market you must have a good understanding of what your options are before you commit to one. One of our favourite and a popular pick among people during renovations is hybrid flooring. This style gets the best from a variety of different flooring styles which makes it a great choice for any renovator.
What Is Hybrid Flooring Made Out Of?
Hybrid flooring comes in various designs, textures, and colours, and there are so many different reasons why we love hybrid flooring. But how does it work? Well, firstly, there are four layers, including:
Top Layer – This is a commercial-grade protective coating used to give hybrid floors impact, stain, scratch and UV resistance.
Print Layer – The layer uses printing technology to create your desired design. Hybrid floors are easily able to imitate the look and feel of surfaces such as wood, tile, concrete, and marble.
Core Board – A composite material used to make the floor feel solid while being resilient against sudden changes in temperature. This layer is often available in two primary types. These are Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) made of limestone, polyvinyl chlorides (PVC) and stabilisers. Or, Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) that is made of recycled wood and PVC. WPC styles are usually thicker and more comfortable.
Acoustic Underlay –this bottom layer is pre-attached in most hybrid floors, which has many benefits, including, increases foot comfort, dampening sound, and eliminating the need for any additional underlay.
The Benefits Of Using Hybrid Flooring
There are so many great benefits to having this style of flooring in your house;
100% Waterproof – one of the primary attractions of this style is that it’s waterproof, making it a material that’s suitable for any room in the house.
Durability – Particularly relevant if you share your home with kids or pets, the last thing you want is for your new floor to get easily scratched, damaged or difficult to clean. Luckily this style is quite durable.
Weather Friendly – Did you know that other flooring materials can shrink or expand in Australia’s harsh and extreme climates? Thankfully, the materials used on this floor are designed to hold their shape.
Less Noise – While this may not be the most important aspect, it is a quality of life element that will make your house that little bit more livable.
Comfort– Most of us walk around barefoot at home, so you’re going to want a flooring material that isn’t going to make your feet ache. The rigid core and attached underlayment of this flooring offer further cushioning under the surface, adding that little bit of extra comfort.
Aesthetics –Like traditional laminate floors, hybrid options include a print layer – meaning the colours, textures and patterns available are virtually limitless.
Easy To Clean – Once you know how to clean hybrid floors it becomes very easy to maintain their cleanliness.
Hybrid flooring is a unique and excellent style of flooring that has incredible benefits and should be on your watch list for your next renovation.
