DO YOU HAVE A SMALL BATHROOM? 7 TIPS TO MAKE YOUR BATHROOM LOOK BIGGER
Just because you have a small bathroom doesn’t mean you can’t achieve the look and feel you want. In this blog, we break down 7 tips and tricks to make your bathroom look and feel more spacious.
TIP #1: BIG MIRRORS
One of the easiest ways to make your bathroom look larger is by going big with your mirrors! The more light you can reflect the bigger your bathroom will appear. Rather than having a small mirror above your vanity, a large mirror the size of a whole wall can create an illusion that doubles the appearance of the space
TIP #2: FLOATING VANITY
A floating vanity with floor space underneath provides an open area that you can utilise for other things.
In small bathrooms any open space is an opportunity and can make a big difference to the overall feel of the room.
For example, in the image below, the area underneath the vanity is being stylishly utilised for towel storage!
TIP #3: NATURAL LIGHT
Natural light can help brighten up bathrooms and make the space appear larger. If windows aren’t an option, consider installing a skylight to let more natural light into the space.
If it is privacy stopping you from having a big window in your bathroom, frosted privacy glass might be the option for you as it allows natural light to come in while still keeping your bathroom private.
TIP #4: WHITE ON WHITE
All-white bathrooms are timeless! They also make small bathrooms appear more spacious as white light reflects available light better than other colours as it doesn’t absorb it.
Using a uniform light colour across your whole bathroom will help create the illusion of a bigger and brighter space.
This look can be achieved by using white on white tiles. As most bathrooms typically have white fixtures (toilets, baths, vanities, etc.) it creates a seamless look making the bathroom appear more open.
Tile Wizards has a wide range of different white tiles. Our Subway Tile range is perfect for creating the illusion of a more spacious bathroom.
TIP #5: CLEAR GLASS PANEL SHOWER
Removing shower curtains and textured/patterned glass in favour of a clear glass panel shower is one of the easiest ways to open up your space and make your bathroom appear bigger. Not only does clear glass help to reflects the light, but it also creates a more seamless look.
TIP #6: LARGE FORMAT FLOOR TILES
Using small format floor tiles can actually makes bathrooms appear smaller as it creates more dividing lines. Using Large format tiles results in significantly less grout lines which helps create the impression of more floor space and in turn will appear less cluttered.
Our Cepheus Stone Terrazzo is available in the larger 60x60cm. It is created using advanced technology that gives each tile a natural stone look. The light grey colour is perfect for any bathroom.
TIP #7: RECESS SHELVING
Building recess shelving into the walls keeps lines unbroken, making the room appear bigger. It has the added advantage of freeing up space in your bathroom while also being stylish. Recess shelving is the perfect way to store shampoos/conditioners and body washes in the shower, as opposed to big and bulky shower caddies.
