Kitchen: subway tiles styled with herringbone pattern
The classic subway tile is an old favourite that will never go out of style, even after being one of the main interior design stars in the past couple of years.
The new twist is simply using an interesting pattern, different from the traditional stacked pattern, so as to create a feature wall that you will love for many years to come.
The visual impact of a herringbone tile pattern is second to none. Named for the shape of a herringbone skeleton, this pattern is created by laying each subway tile at 90 degrees to the tile beside it. We are seeing this pattern in the kitchen along the splashback, where it creates an eye-catching feature wall.
Bathroom walls: hexagonal tiles
Hex tiles have been increasingly popular, so we expect to see new variations of them – new colours, textures, sizes, and colour combinations.
To make these beautiful tiles stand out, we suggest pairing a deep colour with light grouting (or vice-versa) and tile behind the vanity to create a bold feature wall. Or, go with a more muted contrast from floor to ceiling for a simple, elegant look.
