Budget-Wise Renovations for New Homeowners
So, you’ve finally bought your house, and though it fits the budget, it wasn’t necessarily your dream home. You told yourself it’d be okay, and that you could save up and renovate it little by little once you moved in. And now it’s time – but where to begin? If you watch renovation TV shows, you’ve probably noticed that bathroom renovations are often the most impactful, and this is why we believe it’s the perfect starting point.
If this is your home, and not just an investment property, you are probably willing to spend a little extra cash to make sure you get good quality products and end up with a bathroom as close to your dream spa retreat as possible. And while this is only fair, it’s important that you are mindful of your budget, especially if you still have a whole house to renovate.
To help new homeowners, we’ve put together some tips to help you if this is your first renovation.
Hire a builder or Bathroom renovator
Unless you have been through multiple renovations before, we highly recommend hiring a builder who can help you manage the stress and tasks involved with renovating. You might think it’s an extra cost, but we do believe it more than pays off if you come cross an unforeseen problem.
As you will naturally need a plumber, a tiler, a painter, and maybe even an electrician, having a builder in charge will mean they will source their own team of professionals, and they will manage the workers and ensure everything gets done on time and on budget.
Avoid moving pipework
If possible, try to maintain the original layout, as moving fixtures result in your plumber having to move and rework drainage pipes – think opening up walls, and maybe even the ceiling and floors, and this will all add up and make up for a big chunk of your budget.
Even when trying to save money, go with good quality products
While you are trying to decide whether to buy the extravagant shower head and soaking tub you’ve been dreaming about or try and save some money to renovate the rest of the house, we recommend you think about where you can save some money but not compromise on your wishes or quality. For example, it’s a lot easier to find good quality tiles that are reasonably priced than it is to get a cheap jetted tub that won’t cost you more down the track.
At Tile Wizards, we have a great range of digitally printed porcelain tiles, which are extremely durable. You can find these in many styles and prices, so if you are looking for great designs and colour options to create your dream bathroom at affordable prices visit the team at Tile Wizards.
